Shimi Ron (birth name: Shimon Aharon; born December 9, 1962, Ashkelon, Israel) is an Israeli singer.
Ron was born in Ashkelon as Shimon Aharon to a family of Tripolitan origin.
When he started his musical career he changed his name to Shimi Ron (abbreviation of his full name) in the hope that this name would be more catchy and commercial.
Ron began his musical career in 1985 as the house singer of a night club in Tel Aviv.
Ron hosted at the club famous names in Eastern and Mediterranean music, including Zohar Argov, Chaim Moshe, Margalit Tsanani and more.
