Wolfgang Musil

Wolfgang Musil (b. 1958) is an Austrian electroacoustic musician, composer, sound and mastering engineer from Linz. Following his technical training, he studied electro-acoustic music with Dieter Kaufmann in Vienna. Musil has been teaching at the Institut für Komposition und Elektroakustik at the University of Music and Performing Arts since 1985.

Throughout his career, Wolfgang Musil created several audio tape compositions, presented numerous live performances, created sound installations and wrote music for theatre and radio plays. Wolfgang Musil is one of the most prominent sound directors of the live electroacoustic/experimental scene in Austria, alongside with Christoph Amann, Alfred Reiter, Christina Bauer, and Klangforum Wien sound directors Peter Böhm (2) and Florian Bogner. He provided sound engineering and assisted with live technical realization to many prominent Austrian composers and musicians, such as Peter Ablinger, Bernhard Lang, Wolfgang Suppan, and Michael Moser.
