Luis Bernardo Marte Hernández (February 1, 1945 - January 3, 2011) 1 was a comedian, musician, actor, producer and presenter of Dominican television. Martí was known for his characterization of Balbuena, a humble dreamer and idler who longed to travel to New York in search of the American dream.
Luisito Martí began his artistic career as a conguero in the "Combo Show" by Johnny Ventura to later perform as a vocalist. In the decade of the 70s, his interpretation of the merengue "La muerte de Martín" reached a wide diffusion and popularity. Later, he was followed by topics such as "Qué pasa Papo", "Te digo ahora" and "Mamá es la que sabe", among others.
In 1976, Martí as band leader founded "El Sonido Original", a group that reached a certain projection with songs like "Gato entre Macuto", "Jaleo de Acordeón" and "El mudo".
