Real name: Asad Ali Khan

Ustad Asad Ali Khan was a brilliant, but little know vocalist of Agra Gharana. He was a student, and nephew of Agra Gharana Founder Ustad Faiyaz Khansahib. He was also a student of Ustad Tassadaq Hussain Khan, another legendary Agra vocalist and Guru (sources: Tawfiq's classical music blog and blog on Moni Babu - another great artist of Agra Gharana)
He moved to Pakistan in the 1940s, where he spent most of his performing career.

From the sleeve notes of his Ragni Recordings albums - Ustad Faiyaz Khan visited Ut. Asad Ali Khan in Pakistan, and after hearing him sing, conferred upon him the title of 'Aftab E Mousiki' (Sun of Music)
