Argentinian cumbia group, founded in 1969 with the name of “Sexteto Palmeras” in the city of Santa Fe, capital of the province of the same name in Argentine. When they recorded their first LP, they changed their name to Los Palmeras.

In 1978, its vocalist decides to separate from the group his place was occupied by Rubén Deicas.
 
They received their first gold record for «Cumbia y Luna» in 1983. Then they won it again with the albums «Fiesta en la Selva», «Por Siempre» y «Corazón no me Preguntes», which included their first big hit, “La Suavecita”. This song allowed that the cumbia santafesina transcend the provincial limits and began to be inserted in Buenos Aires and the rest of the Argentine provinces.

Los Palmeras are representatives of the “cumbia santafesina”, a cumbia subgenre, originally from the province of Santa Fe.

with over 40 years on stage, more than 40 albums and more than 20 gold records. They are undoubtedly one of the most important and long-lived bands of the “Movida Tropical” in Argentine.
