Atlanta's glam-punk band founded in early 1976.Same lineup on XYZ but music more New Wave oriented.
THE RAZOR BOYS, Atlanta's premiere gutter-glam hard rock band rose out of the confusion & noise of the quickly changing music scene of the 70s, and evolved as a steadfast and determined straight-ahead Rock 'n Roll band. They captivated their audience with their unique stage presence & sense of showmanship. Each performance was a high-energy high-volume event.
THE RAZOR BOYS formed in early 1976 by guitarist/vocalist & composer RONNIE RAZOR & bassist DEE MINOR. Drummer
BOBBY WERBLIN & vocalist CHAZ WESTBROOK were enlisted later that year. Original hard, sleazy Rock 'n Roll with a metal edge is the flavor of this pre-punk music. Atlanta-based shows from 1976 to 1979, as well as a midwest tour in 1978 highlighted club dates with Steppenwolf and The Ramones, followed by two NYC tours with with more club dates with The Ramones & David Johansen Band and other new wave/punk bands.
Then back in Atlanta to club shows with the Dead Boys, Athens with B-52s & REM, Atlanta Agora with AC/DC (with Bon Scott) .
An indie 45rpm single 'XYZ.:THE LATE-GREAT RAZOR BOYS' featuring songs "Wolf Spider" & "Long Distance" was released in 1979 and produced regional college radio air play, but no commercial recording contract. The RAZOR BOYS disbanded at the end of 1979. Choz & Bobby went their seperate ways.
Ronnie & Dee went on to perform as THE AGENTS, THE RAZORS, MURDERERS HOLIDAY, and RONNIE RAZOR BAND, ending in Hollywood, California in 1990.
