A formidable talent and on stage presence which melds subtle glamour and high-octane exuberance, she has emerged as Singapore's most exciting jazz personality. Claressa is only the second jazz vocalist to be was presented by the Composers & Authors Society of Singapore (COMPASS) with the Artistic Excellence Award.

In performance Claressa Monteiro owns the stage, performing with purring intimacy or soaring joie de vie. Her recorded works have earned her international rave reviews for her beautiful, soaring voice and masterful delivery.

She has a discography which includes worldwide releases on Polygram/Phillips, Universal/EmArcy and EMI Music. Her music is heard on radio stations from Singapore to North America and has appeared in the top ten of charts as diverse.

In 2002, Claressa released her landmark debut album 'Now & Then'. It was the first worldwide jazz release by a South East Asian on a Universal Music label and featured a duet with GRAMMY and OSCAR nominated singer/songwriter Stephen Bishop. A compelling endorsement by the world’s largest music group.

Her EMI Music CD release “Words Can’t Describe” was released in November 2003. By the end of 2004, “Words Can’t Describe” was available internationally crossing genres to become EMI Music’s bestselling English language CD by a Singaporean artiste. At home “Words Can’t Describe” spent three straight months on the best seller charts of all major retailers. Claressa’s last release for EMI Music,‘Tourmaline Dreams’ has charted internationally and was the recorded work for which Claressa received the COMPASS Award for Artistic Excellence.

In 2010, Claressa Monteiro was the only Singaporean performer to be presented in performance at the Singapore Sun Festival headlining alongside music luminaries such as David Foster, Natalie Cole and George Benson. In 2012, Claressa Monteiro became a Fellow at the London College of Music in jazz singing performance becoming the first Asian jazz singer to be conferred with the honour. In the same year, she performed a critically lauded show at The Singapore Arts Festival paying tribute to lyricists in ‘Lost Poems.’ She also performed ‘live’ at The President Star Charity, an annual star studded showcase televised “LiVE’ which raised over 10 million dollars for Singapore President Tony Tan’s charity fund. In 2013, she performed as the finale act in the Singapore segment of Asian Style Collection sharing the bill with international KPop and JPop superstars Girl’s Generation, 2NE1 and Thelma Aoyama.

Multi talented Claressa Monteiro is also an award winning radio DJ currently ruling daytime airwaves with SPH Radio’s Kiss92. She currently hosts the highest rated English daytime show in Singapore.
