The Dikes were a vocal group from Georgia, consisting of Lowell Spearman, Johnny Leach, Robert Fleming, and brothers Lucius and Rufus Chosin. They were discovered by Ralph Bass, an A&R man for Federal Records, during a local talent search. Impressed by their singing and songwriting skills, Bass arranged a recording session for the group, In January 1956, The Dikes released their only record, "Light Me Up" / "Don't Leave Poor Me" (Federal 12249). Information on record labels distributed to DJs and distributors confirms the lineup.

Lowell Spearman, the lead vocalist on "Don't Leave Poor Me" died in 2016.
