American folk and Cajun singer, musician, songwriter, folklorist and radio show host, grew up in both Texas and Louisiana. She currently resides in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. In 1984 she formed a folk duo with Butch Hancock, they released two albums together, "Yella Rose" and "Cause of the Cactus".

In 1983, she started making trips to Louisiana to explore her Cajun heritage. This led to a years-long apprenticeship with traditional Louisiana French ballad singers Lula Landry and Inez Catalon, with whom she eventually performed with. Nowadays she performs with several line-ups, performing variety of styles, including original material, acoustic Louisiana home music, Louisiana French waltzes and two-steps, Texas Swing, 1940s blues and swing, and roots music.
