Effective period / Period of releases: 2018

Members: Léo Ouillon, Colin Cousin, Nans Paulet, Quentin Andreoulis, Thomas Pierre

An explosive rhythm, a percussive flow and a pentatonic scale coming straight from Addis Ababa., Kunta interferes with the Hip-Hop family by bringing a trance joyfully inspired by the Afro-beat and Ethiopic sounds.

With his singular orchestration, Kunta demonstrates his desire to expand the boundaries of Hip-Hop, to return to a form of music open to the encounter of styles, creating an unusual mix between Hip-Hop and African ternaries.

And if the music sends us a furious desire to move, Yovan, the group's MC, offers incisive and committed texts, through which he takes a critical look at his time. He thus evokes themes with collective and international challenges, from his point of view as a white European man, thus affirming a form of inevitable ethnocentrism while denouncing the limits and the dangers of this privileged position in Western man.

Kunta is an organic form of a new kind, a rare and disturbing molecule mixing generous grooves and percussive ternaries, to deliver a unique and energizing "Ethio-Hip-Hop"!

The music takes us on an introspective sound journey from Ethiopia 70s to soak up North American music, stirring soul, jazz and hip-hop to finally land in the bubbling scene and mixed Lyon.
