Tommy Malboeuf

Real name: Thomas Owen Malboeuf

Tommy "Red" Malboeuf (1933-2014) was a guitar player who grew up in Troutman, NC. Malboeuf enlisted in the Navy directly out of high school, where he became a boatswains mate and played fiddle, in addition to banjo and bass, in a Naval band. Tommy didn't learn how to play fiddle until the age of 22. He lived in the Statesville area for most of his non-Naval adulthood. Malboeuf played with Al Wood & The Smokey Ridge Boys from c. 1967-1968, and joined The Border Mountain Boys.
