Carl Ludwig Unrath

German clarinetist, conductor and composer. Its most famous composition is the German March "König Karl-Marsch", composed in 1868.
Born: 1 June 1828 in Fürfeld near Heilbronn, Königreich Württemberg.
Died: 18 October 1908 (80 years old) in Stuttgart, German Empire.

Carl Ludwig Unrath was born on 1 June 1828 in Fürfeld, near Heilbronn, Königreich Württemberg (today Germany), In 1843 Unrath joined to the band of the 6. Württembergischen Infanterie-Regiments in Stuttgart as a clarinetist. In 1847 he moved to the chapel of the 1. Infanterie-Brigade in Stuttgart. In 1849 he entered the chapel of the 4. Infanterie-Regiment, which was in Ludwigsburg from 1852 to 1866. In 1868 he composed his most famous march "König Karl-Marsch", The title of the march refers to Karl Friedrich Alexander von Württemberg. In 1872 he retired as a military bandmaster, but continued to work at the War Ministry in Württemberg until 1893. Carl Ludwig Unrath died on 18 October 1908 at the age of 80.
