There used to be a South German band from the small town of Waldshut that won quite a few music awards such as the German Rock Prize, SWR3 Rookies and a few others on their mantelpiece at home. Then it was quiet for a while - and now they're back.
Stylistically, the unabashed composition of different, long-established musical styles, regardless of time and fashion, is still convincing. Mitho Kanywa combines electronic grooves, crackling warm guitar sounds and bittersweet harmony vocals to create a mixture of music that works completely independent of space and time. Their sound sounds like an experiment in which the euphoria of the young Deutsche Welle reacts with the melancholy of Element of Crime. Songs for the stage, indie pop miniatures that sparkle and glitter like a spinning disco ball. Music for dark blue nights. Heartbeat.
