Real name: Kayleigh Rose Amstutz
Effective period / Period of releases: 2017 - 2024
Chappell Roan, born on February 19, 1998, is an American singer and songwriter known for her 1980s synth-pop and early 2000s pop-inspired music.Influenced by drag queens, her style has been described as "campy". She gained attention at 17 with the song "Die Young" on YouTube before being signed to Atlantic Records and releasing her EP "School Nights" in 2017. Her single "Pink Pony Club" in 2020 marked a stylistic shift and helped her gain prominence, although she was later dropped by Atlantic.
After releasing independent songs in 2022, Roan debuted her album "The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess" with Island Records in 2023. Despite initially modest success, the album gained a cult following in early 2024 and became a "sleeper hit" thanks to her performances on Olivia Rodrigo's tour and at festivals like Coachella. By June 2024, the album had surged up the charts, peaking in the top ten on the US Billboard 200 and in other countries, with several singles re-entering various charts.
