The Marquis is Dead, formerly known as The Marquis, is the solo project of Dillon Steele, self described as "Anti-Industrial Apocalypse for Modern Dystopia". It is meat-cuttingly cruel music with an experimental sound, somewhere on the border of electro-industrial and metal.

Originating in Montreal, and after several years in the Berlin underground scene, he is currently residing in Paris. The Marquis is Dead has a prolific and eclectic discography, constantly evolving as so does the artist himself, from goth/post-punk to industrial-metal and ebm/techno.

Former bandmates include Xavier Paradis of cult synthwave band Automelodi, with whom Steele also joined as guitarist from 2016 to 2019 before moving from Montreal to Berlin.
