Jesse "Wild Bill" Austin
Real name: Jesse Austin
Bluesman born September 25, 1930 in Rochelle (New York, USA) and passed away 22 March 1996. Vocalist, keyboard and composer, was also defended with the battery and the bass. He was primarily influenced by Wynonie Harris, whose ‘blues shouting style’ Austin attempted to emulate. Being very young, ended up being part of the band of his idol Wynonie Harris, for whom he wrote one of his greatest success 'Bloodshot Eyes'.After other musical experiences Austin then appeared to have achieved his big break backing Percy Mayfield in 1951, but was arrested for draft-dodging and forced to fight in Korea.
At his return from the front he played on weekends with jazz musicians including Duke Ellington and Count Basie. It was not until the 90's that Austin finally had his big opportunity when booking agent Joe Roesch set up his own record company in order to release the singer’s material. The release of "Steel Trap" in 1992 was greeted by strong reviews. Following some extensive self-promotion reached reasonable sales. Its next album "Baby’s Back" cemented his reputation before Austin died.
