American R&B and blues guitarist and singer, born 13 March 1909, died 31 August 2000.In 1932 he joined the Southern Harmony Four and performed with them until 1940 while establishing himself as a singer in his own right, notably with Les Hite's orchestra. He first recorded under his own name for Rhythm in 1942.
