Mike Lenaburg assembled a one-shot team of crack local musicians including Michael Liggins, Clarence Townes, and Sam James (second sax). We The People, as the short-lived unit called itself, gave birth to “Function Underground,” a mind melting fusion of hard rock and psychedelic funk…but that was all. Their only single was released in 1971 on Darlene.
