Early 20th century klezmer composer, pianist, violin player and bandleader. He emigrated to New York around the turn of the century. Between 1917 and 1938, he made many recordings as a bandleader of Jewish, Russian, Ukrainian, Greek, Romanian and Polish music. Among them were six klezmer violin solos with his daughter, Sylvia Schwartz.
