Austin-native Cotton Collins, enjoyed a long career as a western swing fiddler and is best known for introducing the song "Westphalia Waltz," which he recorded with The Lone Star Playboys in 1947; he made his recording debut with Doug Bine's Dixie Ramblers in 1936, playing fiddle alongside Jimmy Thomason, and also recorded with Hank Thompson and Billy Walker. He led a version of the Ranch Hands as early as 1950, between Lone Star Playboys stints, and divided his time between Waco and Austin, where he eventually settled.
