David Wessel (* 1942 in Belleville, Illinois; † 13. Oktober 2014) was professor of Music at University of California, Berkeley, and founder of the Center for New Music and Audio Technologies (CNMAT). He has collaborated in performance with a variety of improvising composers including Roscoe Mitchell, Steve Coleman, Ushio Torikai, Thomas Buckner, Vinko Globokar, Jin Hi Kim, Shafqat Ali Khan, Vijay Iyer, and Laetitia Sonami.
