He was a musician, songwriter and actor in Hollywood films.
Wrote "Cotton Show", "Don't Take Your Love From Me", and "Tis Autumn."
Worked with Frank Sinatra, Mildred Bailey and Tommy Dorsey. His chief collaborator was Duke Ellington.
