Bolivian group playing Andean foklore songs.
April 7, 1975; the AMARU GROUP was born in the Cochabamba valley; whose name is taken in honor of the leader Tupac Amaru (José Gabriel Condorcanqui); who fought for the freedom of America against the Spanish yoke. His ideals and dignity of his race reached all of South America. Thus three young men proud of their race and culture; they took the guitar, the charango, the quenas, the sikus (zampoñas) and the bombo, to sing to Bolivia and the World the hope and greatness of their people; Dexter Pérez, Raúl Meneces and Herbert Antezana started the path of what is now Bolivian heritage and pride, the AMARU GROUP.
