Tommi Stumpff

Real name: Thomas Peters

Effective period / Period of releases: 1982 - 2021

German electronic and punk musician.
Born on February 1, 1958 in Düsseldorf, Germany.
Died on July 28, 2023 ibid.

Tommi Stumpff began his career as the vocalist of the Düsseldorf-based punk band Der KFC in the late 70ies. After the band split up in 1982 he started his solo venture and is among the people credited with establishing the music genre "electro-punk". His recordings with legendary producer Conny Plank (Kraftwerk, D.A.F., Eurythmics, Ultravox) are regarded as highly influential and he has several hit-songs (“Mich kriegt ihr nicht”, “Massaker”) and hit-albums (“Terror II”, “Ultra”) to his name.

In 1993 he retired from the music industry and began working in the IT industry full time.

In 2015 he returned to playing music under the name "Stumpff" by performing live with a 3-piece-band, this time leaning heavy on the use of electric guitars.
2021 saw the first release since 1993. The EP "Alles Idioten" has the name "Stumpff" on the cover and "Tommi Stumpff" on the spines of the CDs/LPs which means that both are interchangeable. He passed away of cancer in July 2023.
