The Georgian National Ballet - also known as the Sukhishvili Ensemble, or Sukhishvilebi - was founded in 1945 under the direction of Iliko Sukhishvili (Ilia Sukhishvili) and Nino Ramishvili (ნინო რამიშვილი). From 1985-2007 the Ensemble was led by their son Tengiz Sukhishvili, and since by a third generation - Ilia Sukhishvili & Nino Sukhishvili.
