JA-AM is the alias used by Daevid Allen during his retirement in Australia (Feb.1981 to Feb.1988) during which he almost completely stopped playing music, and worked as a taxi driver in Melbourne. His only musical activity during this period was the composition of the seven drones, that were only released on cassettes by Gas Records (2) : one cassette for each drone were released either under Ja-Am name, either the duo Ja-Am / Daevid Allen.
