Vetur
Black metal band from Reykjavík, Iceland, with thrash and death metal influences.
Vetur was founded by guitarist/backing vocalist Kristján B. Heiðarsson (a.k.a. Vetur Konungur) in 2010. He is actually better known as a drummer, even though he has played guitar almost as long as drums. Kristján quickly recruited bassist Magnús Halldór Pálsson (a.k.a. Harmur). Drummer Ragnar Sverrisson agreed to play session drums temporarily, and adopted the name Heift. A singer was recruited for the recordings, but the collaboration ended during the recordings of the band's debut EP, "Vættir". Jóhann Ingi Sigurðsson (a.k.a. Hrímnir) joined the band, and he recorded vocals for the EP.
Following the release of "Vættir" through Faroese label Tutl Records, Ragnar decided to focus on other projects, and that left the band without a drummer. Kristján's friend, Dirk Verbeuren, then best known for his work with French band Scarve and Swedish band Soilwork (and currently a member of Megadeth), joined in 2014, adopting the name Myrkvi, and Vetur begun work on new music.
Due to Dirk's busy schedule, Vetur's debut full-length album, "Nætur", wasn't released until 2018. In 2020 Vetur released a second full-length album, "Vist".
