La Saga de Sayweke
Effective period / Period of releases: 2010
Claudio Quartero, son of the Negra Poli, manager of Los Redonditos de Ricota, started his own project back in 1993. He formed a power trio together with Diego Sánchez and Marcelo Serena and baptized him in tribute to Sayhueque, a Mapuche cacique who was tortured to death after resisting Roca's wild advance. From the beginning, the original aesthetics of the shows was a feature. And from those beginnings they left their native La Plata to also appear in the Federal Capital. The first CD was "La Saga de Sayhueque" (1995), which was broadcast in "Quemar las naves" and "Vidas y tickets" on FM, many times labeled because of his relationship with Los Redondos. After the first plate a replacement occurred. Serena left and Pablo Taichi Rodríguez entered on guitar and vocals. "Before" (1998), the second album, is much more raw, although with more introspective lyrics. For the shows, the drummer was in charge of Mauricio "Topo" Espíndola, who shortly after would join the band definitively, transforming it into a quartet. Davic Quartero, Claudio's son, also collaborated almost continuously. "Oropel" (1999) was perhaps until then the point of greatest importance. "Gallinas", "El triste" or "El blanquito" are the examples. In 2000 he earned the nickname of "one of the rock bands with the largest number of performances in the country", after playing 76 times in Capita, La Plata, the Atlantic Coast, the interior of the Province of Buenos Aires and in the Río Negro Valley. That same year, it was awarded by the Municipality of La Plata as the band with the longest track record and most representative of the city. Luciano Manso (ex La Plegaria) replaced Topo Espíndola in 2001, and that same year they released "Tabú", the band's fourth album, and it is a conceptual work about sex. From the leading role of a stripper in "Appetizing little flux", to the evident metaphor of "Citroin rapist", the various sexual practices in "The Kiss" and "Cunnilingus Redeemer", the debut in "First Time", and the voyeurism in "All about your parents", the lyrics constitute a catalog of sexual variants.
