Norwegian guitarist, vocalist, composer and producer born in Bergen on April 20, 1954. He is best known for his work as a member of Flying Norwegians and for his succes with his three first solo albums in the 1980's. He was awarded the Spellemannsprisen for best album in the category Roots & Country twice - in 1984 for his solo debut "Cato Sanden" and again in 1987 for his third album "Once A Hero". Living Today, Sanden's second solo effort, became the best selling album in Norway in the year of it's release (1986).Sanden ran his own recording studio, Cato Sanden Studio, in Strusshamn, Askøy located outside of Bergen where he produced records for artists like Edel Ellingsen, Odd Jarle Hanssen, Headin' West (NO), Helge Steinsland, G. Thomas and Egil Skjelnes.
Cato Sanden died suddenly of a heart attack on May 3, 2005, only days after his last concert with the reunited Flying Norwegians.
