Steve Davis
Real name: Steve Davis, OBE
b. 22 August 1957English retired professional snooker player from Plumstead, London. He dominated snooker during the 1980s, reaching eight World Championship finals in nine years, winning six world titles, and holding the world number one ranking for seven consecutive seasons. Later in his career he started working for various broadcasters, most notably Phoenix FM, presenting a variety of rock and soul shows (most notably concerned with progressive music and the Canterbury scene). He has also performed as a DJ in various London night clubs and at Glastonbury Festival. The latter performance was a collaboration with Kavus Torabi that resulted in the formation of The Utopia Strong.
