Real name: Joseph Valiante

Joe Val (born June 26, 1926, Everett, Massachusetts, USA - died June 11, 1985) was a bluegrass musician and singer from New England, known for his mandolin playing and his high tenor voice. Received IBMA Certificate of Merit (Distinguished Achievement Award), 1995. Inducted into the IBMA Hall of Fame, 2018. Bluegrass Hall Of Fame Inductee, 2019. Started with Radio Rangers, early 1950s. Then the Lilly Brothers 1957, Berkshire Mountain Boys 1960-1962, Bill Keith and Jim Rooney 1962-1964, Val and Applin 1964, Charles River Valley Boys 1964-1967, Old Time Bluegrass Singers 1967-1970, Joe Val and the New England Bluegrass Boys, 1970-1985.
