British classical trombonist, conductor, author, Professor of Trombone, and mouthpiece & mute developer. Born in 1931 in Braintree, Essex, England, UK.

Age 10, he played with the Chelmsford Salvation Army Band until the age of 15 and soon joined the Luton Brass Band. He then studied at the Royal Academy of Music (1949-1952). He became Principal Trombone of the City Of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra in 1952, leaving in 1957 to join the London Symphony Orchestra (05/1957-04/1988) also as Principal Trombone, achieving the longest principal seat in the orchestra's history. He has also been a member of the London Sinfonietta and, for a short period, the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble. Professor of Trombone initially at The Guildhall School Of Music & Drama (1967-1976) and subsequently at the Royal Academy of Music (2000-2010). Founder of Denis Wick Products Ltd.
Father of Stephen Wick.
Denis Wick was Britain's most influential orchestral trombonist in the middle of the 20th century. It was his position as principal trombone of the London Symphony Orchestra for which he is most revered.
