Judith Kerr, OBE (14 June 1923 – 22 May 2019) was a German-born British writer and illustrator. She left Germany with her parents and her brother, Michael Kerr, in 1933, soon after the Nazis came to power. They were forced to leave as her father, noted drama critic Alfred Kerr, was wanted by the Nazi authorities. The family travelled first to Switzerland and then on to France, before finally settling in the UK. She went on to become a television scriptwriter, and author of childrens books, most notably the 'Mog' series for which she also provided the illustrations.
