Born in White Plains, New York, in 1956.

Performance artist, musician and voice teacher.

Moved to Los Angeles, CA in 1979 and was involved in the music and art scene in Los Angeles. Was performance coordinator at LACE between 1984 and 1989. Became a member of performance art group Shrimps in 1986.

In 1997 Garretson co-founded Catasonic recording studio together with Mark Wheaton.
