Korolevu Beach Serenaders

The Korolevu Beach Serenaders appear to have evolved out of a Fiji-based trio of Tongan musicians, the Korolevu Serenaders Trio which consisted of Albert Bailey, George Tui'nukuafe (aka George Tui) and Paul Kaho. They were the resident a at the prestigious Korolevu Beach Resort. Later other members were to include Theresa Purcell, Wilson Emberson, Joe Logavatu and Pedro Philitoga, and reportedly, Henry Purcell.In 1960, a single "These Beckoning Shores" was released on both the Tapa and Viking labels. The members at the time were Albert Bailey, George Tui and Paul Kaho. In 1973. an LP Korolevu Beach Serenaders Present was released on the Salem label. The LP cover indicated that there were six members which included a female. In 1976, another LP The Korolevu Beach Serenaders Sing Songs From Around The Pacific was released on Ode Records. The credited musicians were, Ben Rausana - drums ; Gu Vananalagi - lead guitar, Pedro Philitoga - bass, Wilson Emberson - rhythm guitar and Theresa Purcell - lead vocals.
