Biography

Nicholas Roubanis
Composer (b. 1880, Nafplion, Greece – d. 1968, Athens, Greece). He is known within the American Greek Orthodox Church for the Divine Liturgy hymnal he wrote in the 1940's, featuring 4-part SATB music. Outside sacred music, he is best known as the composer of the popular song "Miserlou" (or "Misirlou"). His publishing company operated out of 265 W. 41st St., NY in the 1920's and 1930's.
