Riley Walker And His Rockin-R-Rangers

Effective period / Period of releases: 1954

Early western swing-cum-rockabilly band from Southern Utah, formed by Riley Walker in 1947.

The band consisted of Riley Walker (guitar), Walker’s sister Belva (piano), their brother-in-law (not Belva’s husband) Charles Gallagher (steel guitar), and Gordon Hawkins (bass). They performed frequently all over the region, including at the Rockin-R-Rancho dance hall that Walker owned for awhile in Cortez, Colorado. In the same town, Walker worked as a part-time disc jockey for the local radio station KVFC.

In 1954, the band released four songs on Walker's own label, Atomic Records (34). They split up in 1958.
