Biography
Rustre
Real name: Lukas Schöttner
Rustre's songs negotiate opposites. His figures move between melancholic doubt and detached confidence. They ask questions and search for answers. And where human language reaches its limits and becomes a cage of thoughts, music becomes a universal means of expression. The singer and musician from Leipzig consciously searches for friction, uncompromisingly combines analogue instruments with electronic sequences and natural field recording samples with melodically blurred soundscapes - all arranged, recorded and mixed by himself.
Rustre gives things the time they need. And thus, canonical song structures are dissolved, clear lines are broken. Instead: impatient rhythms, distorted bass guitars and warped instruments, rustling sound samples that first creep in quietly, building up layer by layer, to rage into a powerful discharge. Often, the songs end somewhere completely different than where they started. Everything may be as it is.
