Earthquake Jazz Band is a 1970s Kenyan group mixing R&B, Afro-rock and Benga and singing in Swahili and Luo. The group performed with Sylvester Odhiambo who was also a member of the Ambira Boys. This musician is part of the generation of the 1960s/1970s including Daudi Kabaka, Gabriel Omolo, and the Zambian immigrants Nashil Pichen and Peter Tsotsi. All these musicians were marked by rock and country which they integrated into their music dominated by guitar playing.
