Kobi Or (1948-2023) was a versatile Israeli journalist, poet, and philosopher of rock culture. Born as Jacob Noah Ben-Ami in Ramat Gan, he gained recognition in the late 1970s for his independent magazine, "Donkey," which covered alternative rock. His abstract and thought-provoking writing influenced a generation of artists.
The Top Hat Carries band (Hebrew: נושאי המגבעת) was originally named after him as "The Top Hat Carriers Of Kobi Or"

In his later career, Or dabbled in spoken word performances and music. He also collaborated with Boaz Goldberg in the NEMEK duo, exploring American detective literature through music.

Kobi Or maintained his unique style through a blog called "crematoriumm" until his passing in 2023 from pancreatic cancer. His contributions to alternative rock culture remain influential.
