Max Pillar And His Orchestra

Max Pillar was a respected Seattle musician and band leader for decades. He was born in 1913. In the early 1930's, he played reed instruments in the Vic Meyers Band. (This is the same Vic Meyers who went on to become Washington's Secretary of State and Lieutenant Governor.) In 1956, Pillar formed his own band that were mainstays at the Washington Athletic Club, the Trianon Ballroom, Parker's Ballroom (on Aurora), the Olympic, and other local landmarks. Pillar earned the title "King of Dance Music" throughout the Pacific Northwest. He passed away in 2002.
