Alexander Faris

Real name: Samuel Alexander "Sandy" Faris

Effective period / Period of releases: 1959 - 1986

Born: 11th June 1921 Caledon, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland.
Died: 28th September 2015.

Irish composer, conductor and writer.
Has written scores for The Quare Fellow (1962), He Who Rides a Tiger (1965), Rowlandson's England, and Georgy Girl (1966). And wrote the theme music to the BBC television series - Upstairs Downstairs (which won him an Ivor Novello award in 1975 for it's signature tune, The Edwardian), Wings and The Duchess of Duke Street.
