Billy Martin grew up in New York City, went to Benjamin Franklin High School where he majored in music, after graduation he played with groups around N.Y.C.

He went to Paris, France and played in various clubs, then to Frankfurt, Germany where he studied at Frankfurt Conservatory for one year. Returing back to New York he went to Manhattan Conservatory of Music, after graduation he went to tour Canada, staying in Montreal where he spent some time playing in various clubs. They also recorded albums for London Records and had releases in Canada and Europe.
