Telmo Almada
Real name: Pedro Telmo Almada
Telmo Almada, venezuelan composer and trumpet player (b. Zaraza, Guárico, april, 14, 1901 - d. Ciudad Bolívar, Bolívar, october, 14, 1973). Selftaught musician, began playing guitar, after that studied the venezuelan cuatro, an extraordinary player on both instruments. His yearn to learnt more about musical technics led him to master Vicente Peña who taught him to play trombone. After that, a master who surname is Carrizales taught him to play cornet.In 1923 Telmo Almada moved to Ciudad Bolívar, place where developed of his musical work. Almada wrote religious compositions and an ample popular repertory, since venezuelan waltzes (valses), boleros, pasodoble and foxtrot, aguinaldos and villancicos.
Between 1936 to 1938 led the Dalla Costa's Band, time after since 1966 to 1970 led again the band. During his carreer Almada worked with some dancing orchestras even organized his own dancing orchestra where increased his activities as arranger and composer.
Almada died in Ciudad Bolívar, he was 72 years old.
