Herb Abramson

Real name: Herbert C. Abramson

American record company executive and producer (November 16, 1916 – November 9, 1999).
He began with National Records producing such performers as The Ravens, Billy Eckstine and Big Joe Turner.
In 1946 he founded his first record company, Jubilee Records, with Jerry Blaine, but left after a year.
With his wife Miriam and his friend Ahmet Ertegün, he founded Atlantic Records in 1947.
From 1955 to 1958, he ran ATCO Records.
After leaving Atlantic Records, he started new record labels including Triumph Records, Blaze and Festival.
He also ran two publishing companies, Medal Music Inc. and Sheila Songs, Inc..
He founded his own studio, A-1 Sound Studios, in the early sixties.
Father of Sheila Abramson.
