Lloyd Phillips
Real name: Benjamin Lloyd Phillips
American jazz pianist, born c. 1905 in Richmond, Virginia.Settled in New York in 1926, worked in bands led by June Clark until 1930. Later worked with Dave Nelson (4), Fess Williams (1933-1934), two years in LeRoy Smith's Orchestra, then specialising in accompanying singers through the 1940s, but also played with Sidney Bechet, Leo "Snub" Mosley a.o. From 1951 regular accompanist for Pearl Bailey. During the 1960s recorded for Cosmopolitan Records (2) label.
