Based in the Jamestown area of Western New York and the Warren area of Pennsylvania, Lareau is stylistically reminiscent of acts Ben Folds Five, The Dave Matthews Band, Three Doors Down and Ben Harper.
Lareau comprised of founding member and lead vocalist Larry Lareau (released solo album in 2000, called 'Reasons Why'), drummer/multi-instrumentalist Darrin Payne (ex-Brandy Lies), guitarist Pete Gool (ex-fp503), bassist Roger Christopherson (ex-Brandy Lies) and keyboardist Anthony Brown (ex-Graphite Symphony).
