David Buckingham

David Buckingham is a guitarist and composer from the United Kingdom.

After studying in Seville, Spain with some of the finest exponents of Flamenco Guitar in the world, David returned to the UK and released his first solo album The View to critical acclaim. This put David firmly on the map with appraisals from Gordon Giltrap, Pepe De Lucía and several prominent guitar magazines.

David was hand-picked in 2008 by The Gipsy Kings to be the Guitarist in their show Zorro The Musical. He toured the UK with the show before the West End opening at The Garrick Theatre where he performed 8 shows a week for 9 months and received rave reviews. David then toured Europe with the show and recorded the U.K. soundtrack in London and the U.S. soundtrack in Salt Lake City.

Following Zorro, David spent time as an in demand “sideman” for such artists as Leslie Garrett and Russell Watson in the UK and Juanito Makandé and Rafael Amargo in Spain before returning to Seville to seek inspiration for his second album. Your Song is a collection of well-known songs arranged by David for solo Spanish guitar. This album has secured considerable airplay in the U.K, Europe and U.S.A.

David was asked in 2013 to perform in world-renown Ballet star Carlos Acosta's direction of Don Quijote at The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London. This was a huge success and was streamed live to over 1500 cinemas in 34 countries. David returned to The Opera House in November 2014 to perform the work again and later travelled to Shanghai, Moscow and Tokyo with the company.
