Edith Segerstedt

Real name: Edit Charlotta Segerstedt

Swedish accordionist and orchestra leader, born 28 August 1907 in Gothenburg, died 18 August 1980 in Partille.

On Liseberg's old dance track Polketten, Segerstedts kapell played for several seasons. She came to be associated with Gothenburg, but performed in several places in the country as a restaurant and folk park musician with her own orchestra. She has made record recordings with, among others, Eric Öst.

Gothenburg's "Kal å Ada" is crowned by Kals Åden, according to the statutes every two years. In 1979, Segerstedt received this honorary title together with Sven Tjusling. She is mentioned in Povel Ramel's Birth of the Old Dance from the revue På avigan (1966): Nyckelharpan så fjäderlätt, knäppes utav Edith Segerstedt.
