Real name: Manuel Rivas Ávila

Manuel (Wello) Rivas Ávila (February 18, 1913 - January 12, 1990) was a Mexican musician and composer of popular songs, born in Mérida, Yucatán and died in Mexico City. It is a representative of the traditional Yucatan trova.
He was the second of the four sons of Fernando Rivas Boffarull and Isabel Ávila Rosado. He moved to Mexico City with his family from an early age. There, driven by his parents, he learned to play the guitar and cultivated his love of music until he became a professional.
In 1936, he was hired to work on his first radio plan for an open auditorium along with Rafael Hernández and Margarita Romero. The transmissions were maintained for more than four years in the first places of audience. He worked for the national radio of his country in the stations with the largest audience: the XEW, the XEX, Radio Mil and the XEQ. In this last one he had programs of great hearing with the artist Amparo Montes.
He is the author of the lyrics of 100 songs recorded in the SACM: Llegaste Tarde, Cenizas, Quisiera Ser Golondrina, Callecita, Crepuscular, Obsesión, Mendigo de Amor, Volverás a mi, Ayer y hoy, Algo, El jardinero, Tarde o temprano, Con las alas rotas, among others.
